Not sure what to say. I just did a random drop-in today, had some time to spend and a beer was in order.
I like patios so that's where I chose to sit. A washroom visit first made me feel better about my choice of pubs, it was clean and well kept. Looked like a somewhat recent reno.
Walking back to the patio I took note of the decor inside. It was woodsy and quaint, comfortable even. The clientele in attendance all looked like regulars and it appeared most over 50.
The server was nearby and pleasant, and once I returned to my seat she took my order. It didn't sound like there was a huge selection of beers on tap but my needs were simple.
The patio is essentially (feels like anyway) part of the parking lot. All tables had umbrellas but the patio wasn't as inviting as inside.
I had no food so have no comments on that.

I mean, for what it is Baxter's is just fine. We popped in for a quick drink before an appt across the street and it was medium-busy and filled with a lot of snowy-tops (as my mum likes to call them).

A meat draw was happening and sports were showing on the large screens around the room (maybe baseball? I don't remember sports...) Our server was brisk and clearly had no time for chit chat, but she got the job done. Boyfriend ordered a beer that I will not name because the selection made me very, very sad, and I had a glass of their house wine, which was both cheap and local! YAY!

Major points for having a not-terrible local wine on cheap, zero points for the dreadful beer selection. The atmosphere is pretty chill and it feels like most of the people here know each other (it wouldn't surprise me). Not somewhere I'll be hurrying back to, but not a bad spot to stop in if you like sports bars.

Not the worst for service but NOT best either!  How many times must a customer ask for a refill of coffee before actually receiving???  Its like an Enigma!  Plus just wanted eggs NOT cooked hard and I clearly mentioned this and yuuup!  Hard!  Nobody checked on me so just had as is.  And why do the servers get away with wearing flip flops???...so dangerous!  They do not think of it!  Can slip easier, broken glass could cut their foot and someone not paying attention and stepping on their ankle!  ETC like health code maybe!  Come on!  Wake up!  The Health Inspector for Kelowna is NON Existent!!!  Some other pubs do it too Mr Inspector...do your easy job!

Wings Wednesday. A treat for the middle of the week. A day to cheat on your diet. A place to eat your feelings. Fortunately, it's a cheap treat, cheat and feeling-suppressant! So, you can afford to have it at least once a week. Not saying that you should....

Anyways, as you can probably tell, I am usually just here for the wings on Wednesday. Not like they're anything phenomenal or that these are the best wings I've ever had. But nonetheless, they're 25 cents, fried and fun.

I guess I should talk about the wings. Personally, I would get the wet wings because the dried rubs are not flavorful whatsoever. The cajon and lemon pepper/salt-n-pepper (i can never tell between the two) are just fried wings with a subtle not-even-there flavor. The cajon is a little bit more piquant but not by much. The wet wings: hot, honey garlic, teriyaki, bbq and sweet chili are much better. Also, I should mention that Baxter's isn't completely consistent -- sometimes the wings are fresh out of the fryer, sometimes its "leftover-stale," but you get what you pay for. You pay for the element of surprise. Ooooh tempting, isn't it?

Occasionally, my friends and I would share the nachos for two. It is HUGE. I mean, like HUGE. The quality is decent. I mean, it's nachos. If you can't do it right, I don't know whether you should be opening a restaurant... Right?

Finally, the reason why I docked 2 stars. The service. It is a mess. I understand that Wings Wednesday is probably a busy night for them. But even so, we never get our menus, we never get our water, we hardly ever get our orders taken without being prompted. I work at a restaurant and I feel like a manager having to babysit my workers. I am here to be served, not to serve. If I wanted to work there, I would've applied. Y'know?

I always assumed it was because it was busy on Wednesday but sometimes I will come at 9:30pm just because I know it dies down then and still, service is blah.
Basically, by the end of the meal, not only are we annoyed, we feel like annoying pricks for asking this, then that, bring this and don't forget that. It's a lot of work for us *phew*.

So, what this novel of a review is saying is that you should approach with caution. Read what I wrote and keep it in the back of your mind. You can possibly have a great time and great wings, or a terrible time and terrible wings. Or a combination of both. Baxter's is inconsistent and when it comes to food, I am not a huge fan of surprises. Well, I wish you all the best of luck at this place and chow down!

    Oh. And the beer sucks.

Yikes!  Not nearly as good as the first visit.  We were there on a Saturday afternoon this time and the food just didn't taste the same.  The wings tasted like they'd been previously cooked,  just like every other place we've been to lately.  We had the baskets of breaded shrimp and it was one of those deals where there's just so much coating and such a little shrimp but they were cheap.  It was a warm September day and the patio was open so the smoking section came into the restaurant where we were sitting.  Unfortunate.
